2011, here we go

Happy New year!

So, 2010's efforts to regularly post here fell flat. I think I got a little distracted by work and ended up just posting on my conceptart.org sketchbook instead. This year, to share my work with a wider audience I will be posting here instead.

I'll start off with a retrospective of the year just gone, beginning with some digital paintings. 2010 was a year of serious study and self improvement. I feel I've taken some more steps towards being a better artist and hopefully you''ll be able to see some progress in my work too.

First off, here's a little new years greetings image I did for my little Japanese nephew.

Mid Year Update... haha..

Well, my new years resolution to start a blog went well!

I've just come back from the MADE symposium in Berlin and am totally pumped with motivation so I'll be sketching more and hopefully posting more.

I'm also going to be starting my two week course in academic painting at the Florence Academy Sweden. This'll be the first time studying oils and I feel like it'll be a rewarding experience.

I'm living in London now!

On a brief visit to Sheffield, I popped in for another life drawing session to get the year's art off to a productive start. After warming up in inks, I decided to try a new shading style that I feel quite comfortable with (bottom 2 images). It was surprisingly efficient too!

Now, to find a life drawing group in London...
